On The Shelf

This short 3D animation was inspired by the artwork of Michael Craig-Martin “On The Shelf” (1970). At first I planned to recreate the still version of his work which is a picture of a tilted shelf with 15 milk bottles on it filled with water. But my curisoty quickly led me to wondering how this would look animated. It was quite a challenge as each bottle needed its own level of liquid and its own liquid simulation. The liquid simulations then needed to interact with each single bottle as rigid bodies. Finally, the bottles needed to fall down and break on the floor, fracture and letting the water splash out of the broken bottles. Liquid simulation was done with PhoenixFD. The rigid bodies and fracture simulations where made with tyFlow.

Vipp Bins

I’ve always been a big fan of Vipp furniture and especially their beautiful bins. My memories of this iconic piece go back to childhood in my grandfathers living room. These bins with their minimal and elegant design will forever be modern and trendy. With this personal project I wanted to bring life to these bins in an original way. I decided to use motion design to shape the bin from the ground upwards, in a organic and dynamic way. I also wanted it to be soft and poetic.

Switch

I was inspired by a visual created many years ago by the 3D artist Zigor. I took the inspiration to learn Cinema4D and decided to take it a step further and animate it into a video. I used the logo of a non-profit organisation I co-founded more than 10 years ago called Switch. The logo fit perfectly with the animation I wanted to make.
